Honeymoon Tour ( Option 1 )

Since so many of our newly clients see their honeymoon as a chance for that ‘trip of a lifetime’, we don’t actually view this as a problem. Now – as Burma emerges into the international spotlight, but before the world’s investors really move in – is a truly fascinating time to visit. After all, not everyone wants to spend their honeymoon drinking cocktails on “just another beach”, however exotic their location. And just because Burma is not your average honeymoon destination doesn’t mean you can’t relax in comfort & style. Yangon’s historic hotels, & the Colonial-style riverboats that cruise the mighty Mekong River, still convey the glamour that seduced Orwell during his time here. Around dreamy Inle Lake you’ll find beautiful spa accommodation, while tranquil Amara Mountains offer temperate respite from the heat elsewhere. Once you acknowledge that Burma is not about lolling in the sun, it becomes a compelling honeymoon destination.…

Upon arrival in Yangon International Airport, our tour guide will be waiting for you outside the baggage area and drive you through downtown to explore the center of Yangon and its fabulous mix of architectural and sites. The streets are filled with historical buildings many of which have a faded colonial charm not seen elsewhere in Asia.
A bottle of champagne awaits you in your room to enjoy and toast to your honeymoon adventure in Myanmar.

This morning we will catch the only direct flight to Bagan, Myanmar’s archeological wonderland, where over 3,000 ancient temples blossom from the countryside. After the short domestic fight, start your tour with a trip to the bustling Nyang U Market in Old Bagan then explore the beautiful, gold leaf Shwezigon Pagoda and learn about the Burmese Buddhist tradition. We continue our tour with a visit to Ananda Temple, stopping along the way in the Bagan plain to admire some of the surrounding temples. In the afternoon, take a tour of a local lacquer wear workshop and learn about this traditional craft.

After breakfast, we begin the day with an exotic horse cart ride to one of the biggest temple in Bagan: Nan Paya Pagoda and many other interesting sites nearby. Continue with sightseeing to MinkabaGubyaukyiTemple; experience the architectural differences in MyaZedi Pagoda before heading to Manuha Temple. The highlight of today is the panoramic sunset view from the second highest pagoda of Bagan, the ShweSandaw Pagoda.

Leaving the Bagan temples behind, we begin the drive to Mt.Popa. Join the pilgrims as they ascend Mt.Popa and admire the crazy statues that line the walk along with all the monkeys that live on the mountain. Once at the peak guests can relax and bask in the glorious views of Bagan. We then return to Bagan for a short cruise along the Irrawaddy River at sunset.

After breakfast, fly to Heho, our gateway to Inle Lake, which is known as the most beautiful lake in Myanmar. The lake’s calm waters are surrounded by high hills and dotted with floating gardens and stilted villages. Then drive to NyaungShwe where a private local motorboat will escort you to your luxurious hotel. On the way, visit the remarkable Nga HpeChaung (jumping cats) Monastery and its Shan Buddha's and PhaungDawOo Pagoda, the lake’s main sanctuary. Your romantic experience continues with a wine tasting at the Inle Princess Resort, before enjoying a private dinner on the terrace.

Continue our sightseeing in Inle Lake, maneuvering by boat though long, scenic channels where we can watch the farmers cultivate their produce in “floating gardens”. You will visit the fascinating village of Indein, with its complex of ancient shrines and stupas and walk though exotic colonnades of stairways and shop stalls. We’ll visit the “long neck” tribal women, and weaving and craft villages perched on stilts. See the lake’s unique “leg rowers” – the Intha people row standing up with one leg wrapped around an oar. It is a feast for the senses and a photographer’s dream.

Leave Inle Lake for Yangon. Spend your full day exploring Yangon and its highlights from Sule Pagoda, the heart of Yangon city; Chaukhtatgyi Pagoda and Kandawgyi Lake. After lunch, discover the most outstanding pagoda in Yangon: Shwedagon Pagoda. The golden pagoda is really a must see while you are in Myanmar. Enjoy your shopping time in Scott Market. Your highlight for this evening is the dinner in Karaweik Palace, overlooking to the Royal Lake and Shwedagon Tower. A beautiful dinner will be served of fine Burmese food and an amazing cultural show.

Your day is free at leisure until your transfer to the airport for your onward flight. If you would like to extend you stay with insider tours or a beach break, please ask your Orchid Myanmar Travel consultant.
