Biking Tour ( Option 2 )

It’s the time of year when we’re starting to see more of the sun and the outside temperature’s getting ever so slightly warmer. It’s therefore the time of year when we start looking ahead to our summer holiday. Where to go this year? Somewhere new, far-flung and more exotic? Why not take a trip to Burma, now known as Myanmar?

Myanmar is now welcoming tourists with open arms, and for tourists making the trip, you’re guaranteed a holiday like no other. One of the best ways to see the natural beauties of Burma is to travel across it by bike. If you’re up for a more active holiday then seeing Burma by bike comes highly recommended by the team at Orchid Myanmar Travel.

You can cycle and discover all that Myanmar has to offer. You can witness the colonial glory of Yangon, you can explore the daily lives of the local people who live around the Inle Lake, you can visit the Golden Rock, and you can explore the ancient Bagan, and much more.

There’s something for everyone in Myanmar, and on our holidays, you can see the country however you like.

Early morning, pick up at your hotel and then drive to Mawlamyine. On the way, you may make some stops for water, photos, and meals and so on.
Upon arrival at Mawlamyine, transfer to your hotel for check-in.
In the afternoon, if the time permits, you can make a warm-up biking at the city. Don't miss out the ride along the Mawlamyine Strand Road in the evening time to be able to enjoy the sunset.

Mawlamyine, known as Molmein in the British times, is the 3rd largest city in Myanmar and situated in the south of Myanmar.
After breakfast, transfer to the jetty from your hotel, just a few minutes. Then take a private boat or ferry boat approximately 45 minutes to the jetty of Bilu Island or Ogre Island (you won’t meet Ogres there!!). Once you disembark, you mount the bike and you will be meeting firstly with the old Chevrolet at the jetty that still serve for transportation.
Activities on the island during the Mountain bike cycling excursion;
1. You can visit the very friendly villagers’ house
2. Go up the hill to see the panoramic views including the cycling trail coming towards the hill
3. Visit the home industries such as Rubber-band making, Cigar pipe, and so on
After excursion making a loop on the island, you will be back at the same jetty to transfer the same way back to Mawlamyine.

You may visit Pomelo Orchards on the way to Kor Nat Village where you will see the best Glass Mosaic decorations and Teak Wooden Buddha Images. The monastery is donated by a Myanmar Well-Known Teak Merchant, U Na Oak. We used to learn about his patriotic battle in terms of inland water transport business against the then Irrawaddy Floatilla Company in the British times.
Walk around the monastery complex; take the pictures of the amazing wood-carvings decorated on the inner walls of the monastic buildings. Sometimes, you will see the European pillar pedestals at some of the buildings.
